Safeguarding
We recognise our responsibilities for safeguarding children and vulnerable adults. We have a detailed policy applying to all staff working in the organisation, including permanent and temporary staff and volunteers. Comprehensive procedures support this policy.
There are five main elements to our policy:
- Ensuring we practice safe recruitment in checking the suitability of staff and volunteers to work with children and vulnerable adults.
- Raising awareness of safeguarding issues and equipping children and vulnerable adults with the skills needed to keep them safe.
- Developing and then implementing procedures for identifying and reporting cases, or suspected cases, of abuse
- Supporting learners who have been abused in accordance with any child protection plan or other relevant arrangement.
- Establishing a safe environment in which children and vulnerable adults can learn and develop.
We follow the procedures set out by the Area Child Protection Committee and take account of guidance issued by the Department for Education and Skills.
